The Needs

Jail and Sheriff's Office

New Housing Pod

The current jail housing setup requires more staff to safely supervise inmates because key functions are spread out and not centrally controlled. A new housing pod designed in a 3-post model with master control, booking, and one rover officer would allow the facility to operate more efficiently while maintaining safety.

In this modern layout, master control centrally monitors doors, cameras, and movement. Booking is positioned for better visibility and smoother intake processing. A rover officer can safely supervise the housing unit with clear sightlines and quicker response times.

This streamlined design reduces unnecessary staff movement, improves communication, and allows the jail to operate safely with the appropriate number of officers. Over time, that means better use of taxpayer dollars while maintaining security for staff, inmates, and the community.

The new housing pod is presented as an alternate bid that adds a 150-bed housing unit. If approved, it would bring on-site bed capacity to 258 beds resolving current classification, transporting, operational efficiency issues.
